Sending the general journal entries to the clients in QuickBooks is easy, especially if you are using QuickBooks Enterprise/Accountant or QB Enterprise Account. QuickBooks Pro and Premier versions also allow you to import general journal entries from your accountant or bookkeeper. How To Send General Journal Entries (.QBJ Files) From QuickBooks Desktop Accountant?

When You Have The Existing General Journal Entries

  • Select Send General Journal Entries in the Accountant menu and insert the date in the from and to section. This will filter the entries, and you can send the desired journal entries.
  • You have to check the boxes of the journal entries that you want to send, and if you wish, you can edit those as well. To edit journal entries:
  1. Hit the link under the Account option and edit the journal entries in Make General Journal Entries.
  2. Hit the save button and close the window.
  3. Uncheck the Allow recipient to select which GJEs to post to the file box to make sure that receipts have imported all the general journal entries.
  4. To send these entries to the recipient:
  1. Tap on Email as Attachment. This will send the journal entries now.
  2. If you want to save the entries so that you can send the data later to the accountant, you have to click on the Save as File option.

When You Do Not Have The Existing General Journal Entries

  • Select Send General Journal Entries in the Accountant menu and add the Journal Entry and hit the Save button.
  • Tap on Send GJEs.
  •  If you wish, you can edit those as well. To edit journal entries:
  1. Hit the link under the Account option and edit the journal entries in Make General Journal Entries.
  2. Hit the save button and close the window.
  3. Uncheck the Allow recipient to select which GJEs to post to the file box to make sure that receipts have imported all the general journal entries.
  4. To send these entries to the recipient:
  1. Tap on Email as Attachment. This will send the journal entries now.
  2. If you want to save the entries so that you can send the data later to the accountant with the help of email, Pendrive, or any other way, you have to click on the Save as File option.

Steps To Import General Journal(.QBJ) Entries

  • In QuickBooks, select Files and click on Utilities.
  • Select Import and click on the General Journal Entries option.
  • Locate the .qbj file that you have downloaded and stored in the system.
  • From the Add General Journal Entries section, you can check the details of the journal entry (This is optional). You can uncheck the entries that you do not want to import. If you do not see any box to check or uncheck, it indicates that your accountant has chosen all the journal entries to be imported.
  •  Hit the Add GJEs, and in the Import Summary Window, click on Ok option.
